Craig Burness

Captain

Craig and Cressida, both from England, met two years ago whilst working together on yachts in the Caribbean Island of Guadeloupe. They have been sailing together ever since, everywhere from the Bahamas to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. They love to be on the water so much that last year they purchased a small sailing yacht, which Craig sailed across the Atlantic in with his father and sister.

Craig grew up in the northern British countryside and got the sailing bug at a young age, sailing Optimists and Lasers with the school club and spending the summers with family friends sailing in North West Wales. If Craig wasn't in a boat you would find him fishing for trout or covered in mud on the rugby field. At eighteen years old, he left home and moved to Egypt to pursue a career as a Scuba Diving Instructor. This has taken him all over the world, including Tanzania, Dubai and Thailand, with over 5000 dives and having certifying over 450 new divers, it's has been hard to get him out of the water.

After Craig received his RYA Yacht Master Offshore Certificate in South Africa he worked delivering new yachts from the factory in La Rochelle, France, to a variety of destinations around the beautiful Mediterranean. After a summer sailing the Mediterranean, he landed a Captains position on a charter catamaran in the Caribbean where he really found his passion for the industry.

Cressida grew up with a mother who loves to cook, bake and entertain, so it was hard for her not to follow in her footsteps. Now she has combined her love for great food and adventure into a life she could only dream of a few years ago. She now gets to thoroughly enjoy creating beautiful tasty dishes, tailoring each to that of her guests.

After graduating university Cressida packed her bags and left for the Canadian mountains where she worked as Supervisor for a large restaurant, before heading to the Mediterranean to begin her career in yachting and accepting a position in the Caribbean. Cressida took her passion to a professional level by attending Ashburton Culinary School, learning an array of new skills whilst strengthening the ones she already had. For three years before joining Hurrah she worked alongside Craig running week-long luxury charters on a 70ft catamaran in a variety of locations.

Both Craig and Cressida enjoy a number of different activities both on and off the water, including spending time with family and friends, snowboarding, kitesurfing and freediving, with Cressida most recently becoming a fully qualified yoga instructor. Both of them are excited to give their guests a trip of a lifetime onboard the beautiful sailing yacht Hurrah.
