Crew

Bill Bailey / Peter Metcalfe

Captain

Bill has been Captain aboard LADY B since her launch in June 2010. He has cruised and raced around the globe both professionally and for pleasure since early childhood and brings a lifetime of boating knowledge and offshore seamanship to the LADY B. Originally from the Pacific NW, Captain Bill studied Political Science and Law, however his love of wooden boats and carpentry diverted him towards a career as a shipwright and ultimately, yacht captain, which he is passionate about. Bill has remained a keen swimmer since college and enjoys all water sports, skiing, reading and speaking with the local people in every port. Dedicated to running a safe and comfortable ship, Captain Bill firmly believes that sailing should be fun and accessible to everyone. The perfect host for the perfect charter experience, Captain Bill and his crew extend a warm welcome on behalf of the Owners of LADY B, and invites you to enjoy the sailing trip of a lifetime!

Peter relieves Bill Bailey as captain over the Mediterranean summer.

Peter has raced, cruised and delivered vessels all around the globe professionally and for pleasure during the past 30 years. He brings a lifetime of boating knowledge and offshore seamanship to the LADY B. Dedicated to running a safe and comfortable ship, Peter firmly believes that sailing should be fun and accessible to everyone. In addition to numerous offshore races, Peter is a veteran of two Whitbread Round the World races (finishing 5th on The Card in 1989/90). Originally from Ireland, his base is now in Sweden where he and his wife, Mulle, have two grown children, two dogs and a horse. He has recently taken up kiteboarding but also enjoys hiking and their west-coast island cabin as a change from the sea.

Peter and his crew extend a warm welcome on behalf of Barbara and Gerry, and invites you to enjoy the sailing trip of a lifetime.

Originally from Tuscany in Italy, Chef Sonia now happily bases herself in Barcelona. She speaks fluent Spanish and Catalan as well as English, French and remarkably good Italian! Sonia delights in creating dishes on the spur of the moment, incorporating the flavor and nuances of fresh local produce. Chefing on both sail and power yachts for over 10 years, Sonia draws from a wealth of experience including her native cuisine and loves the challenge of catering to the diverse palettes of guests. Sonia met Captain Bill and Lisa in the South Pacific Kingdom of Tonga where they were regular customers at her excellent Italian restaurant. She is now an invaluable member of the team on board LADY B! Sonia loves to swim, catch up with friends and lie on the beach with a book and a glass of chilled rosé.

Lisa hails from Edinburgh but has been on the move ever since leaving college. A trained dancer, she left the theater sooner than planned to seize the offer of a yacht delivery to Tahiti and the rest is history! She later met Captain Bill in Hawaii, whilst employed by the same boat builder and they have sailed together ever since. Lisa has a special love for sailing yachts and has worked through the ranks as deckhand, mate, skipper and (briefly!) chef. Her winning smile and can-do attitude makes guests of all ages feel pampered and keeps them coming back for more! Lisa still loves dance, reading, sailing, skiing and loves meeting those from different cultures. She speaks French, Spanish, rusty Tongan and is an efficient, capable contact for interior, shore side and medical issues. Lisa is delighted to welcome guests on board and make them feel right at home!

Dave grew up in South Africa helping his father build a 50 foot ketch which they later cruised extensively in the Indian Ocean. This is the man who, with his quiet way and dry sense of humor, maintains a low profile whilst keeping the on board systems purring on his watch. Like Mike, who he works in rotation with, Dave has served as Chief Engineer on superyachts worldwide and brings with him extensive experience. Dave has made two trips up the Red Sea as well as a voyage to South Georgia in Eastern Europe. Following Motor GP racing is a favorite hobby of his, in addition to bicycling and enjoying the various watery pursuits the sailing life offers. Dave speaks Afrikaans and Spanish and spends time in the Islas Baleares when he can.
