Born in a small fishing village in Andalusia on the Mediterranean coast of Southern Spain, Antonio’s connection to the sea began at an early age through fishing with his father. From just nine years old, he dreamed of captaining his own vessel and sailing the world — a goal he has more than fulfilled throughout his remarkable maritime career.

Antonio is a highly experienced Ocean Captain with over 300,000 nautical miles sailed worldwide. A professional shipbuilder by training, he brings extensive knowledge in both the mechanical and structural maintenance of sailing yachts. He has spent four years as Captain of an expedition sailing yacht on a scientific circumnavigation funded by public and private institutions, and has also authored two books on nautical travel alongside producing a documentary.

Fluent in Spanish and conversational in English, Antonio enjoys sharing his passion for sailing, diving, and life at sea with guests. He is also an enthusiastic cook who loves preparing Mediterranean-inspired dishes and fresh seafood specialties.

Friendly, sincere, and generous by nature, Antonio’s life motto is “Live without fear.” In his spare time he enjoys sailing, fishing, cycling, diving, walking, and reading.

Crew Philosophy
Antonio and Pam are a married couple and have worked together as crew for a few years in the Med and Caribbean, and they are both fully qualified Captains, combining extensive maritime knowledge with a shared passion for cooking. This unique blend of skills ensures that guests aboard Loba do Mar enjoy not only professional seamanship, but also a varied and creative culinary experience throughout their charter.
