Captain Don Smith
Don Smith was born in south Georgia and has had a life well lived on the water for most of his adult years. He traveled in the Merchant Marines for about 15 years before settling down to a home base of Bluffington, SC. From that sailing education Don entered the world of yachting and chose to work among the power yachts and charter. With his charter yacht experience he gained extensive knowledge and familiarity for the East Coast, Florida and south to the Keys, the Bahamas and even the Caribbean. Don is passionate about surfing, both for himself and as a sport along with just about everything on the water and loves sharing his enthusiasm with his charter guests. The versatility of his travels and love for people make him a perfect combination of Southern charm and knowledgeable host as captain aboard the ELLA CLARE. Dons attention to safety and the pursuit of the best charter week ever will surely keep his guests wanting to come back for another stay on board.

Mate & Alternate Captain

Mate (and alternate Captain) Erin Nelson
Erin has twenty two years of maritime experience, having served thirteen of those as Captain. He 1600/3000 Oceans Master USCG license and is STCW compliant. He strives to continually add new endorsements and educate himself on everything ocean and charter related to enhance his yachting career experience for himself as well as for his charter guests. Additionally his charter guests benefit from his extensive diving experience and can feel safe when with him knowing he is a fully trained Emergency Medical Technician. Erin has been responsible for all deck issues, Scuba training for crew and guests and also the fishing responsibilities on board. Erin loves all types of water sports, exercise and fitness, audio-visual, cooking and photography.
